Nearly all medicines were, and still are tailored to ‘the standard person,’ quite often standard American, or Standard European, something itself that has changed over the years, but medicine not necessarily updating appropriate to the modern need, using healthy standards of the 1960’s average body. Do human bodies conform to 300mg, 50mg, 10mg once a day of anything? They work to 253mg and 46.5mg, or 77.1mg maybe three to thirty times a day, depending on how things are going. Doctors today usually start on the minimum dose of anything, and work their way up when its effects aren’t working properly. Drugs cost money, so there is often a push to give maximum effect for minimum financial outlay and provision. Like a space program when things only change a bit from this minimum when disaster happens. Only severe contraindications are noticed, such as things like statins and grapefruit, most interactions ignored, but no drug, treatment or disease has no side or knock on effects. Everything affecting other areas. For example, Covid used the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2) for entry into the lungs, which in itself forms part of the Renin–Angiotensin–Aldosterone System, the connections between the liver, kidney, surface cell membranes and blood pressure, etc, so affects most areas, including the intestines, gall bladder, testis, so reproduction, affect things like the breasts, and even the brain.
At one time I was working on a model human, but got little way with it, financial needs mainly putting it on hold then cancellation. AI is perfect for repetitive work, like a mental macro, poor for innovative or non-linear thinking. Thinking incredibly fast and exact inside the box is AI’s forte, but there’s always more world outside than in one. You might be able to produce brilliant works of art and pictures, better than anyone else’s in their bedrooms, but that doesn’t compare to the sheer variety and scope that world exploration produces. But, the best reproductions or galleries earn the best bucks, impress during a lifetime and live comfortably, not the best artists who quite often just fail, their best work not done, or given the chance to. Adversity doesn’t produce the best art, it’s mainly all they’re usually allowed. Sadly, AI is being used as a money generator, not an existing ideas developer.
Getting back to medicines, I did do a few articles on the future effects of Covid, beginning up to 20 years after it started up, in about 2020 on the knock-on effects of things like continued functional impairment we now call ‘long covid’ and future increases in cancers in organs with a high expression of ACE-2. Increase In gall bladder, liver, lung, kidney, digestive systems and possibly dementia. But, similar to it has been circulating even before then because of reckless and little controlled human incursions into rarely accessed areas that contain animal reservoirs.
